Black History Month: Video Discussion

February 23 @ 7:00 pm

The Black Heritage Library will be screening the film, “A White Man Walks into a Barbershop“.

Almost a decade ago, a small film crew making a documentary about racism in America drove into Meridian to get gas. On a whim the director decided to walk into Jenkin’s Barbershop to see if he could film a little bit in the shop. The welcome he received from the owner Kevin Lewis Sr. and the rest of the barbershop turned a one hour lunch stop into a 2 day affair with the crew filming at the barbershop.  Visiting barbershops, churches, and homes from Alabama to Minneapolis, from D.C to L.A, filmmaker Kyle Schickner hits the road, with the hope of examining racism’s hold on our country, only to discover the grip racism has on himself.

Please note that this movie deals with mature topics and is intended for an adult audience.
