Hancock Park District is inviting you to an Exploration Station to learn about the history of Charles and Mary McKinnis and their children who lived in the now, 175-year-old home that still stands today on the Litzenberg property. Find out what you might see on this 227.7 acres which includes the property on the south side of U.S. Highway 224. Visitors may take a self-guided hike on the .14-mile Quiet Walkway, the 1.21-mile Backwoods Trail, the 2.57-mile Southland Trail, or other trails located throughout the park. The monarch butterfly, dragonfly, deer, fox, wild turkey, and many other wildlife call this area home. There are endless possibilities for activities on the woodland trails and prairie area such as photography, horseback riding, hiking, and bird watching.

Meet at the Litzenberg Memorial Woods by 1pm. This event is recommended for individuals and family groups. The event is free and registration is not required.
