International Observe the Moon Night
September 14 @ 9:00 pm - 10:30 pm
FreeEvent Navigation
Each year the world gathers to celebrate and view Earth’s only natural satellite, the Moon. First, learn about our moon including how it was formed, its features, and human exploration. Then we will go out on the lawn and look through a telescope to get a closer look at the moon and other objects in the night sky. You can create a moon phase calculator and calendar, start a moon observation journal, color a coloring page, or pick up a pair of binoculars and a star map to search for objects in the sky. If the sky is too cloudy to view through telescopes, we will go on a night hike instead to look for nocturnal creatures in the park.
Meet at Discovery Center Porch. This free program is open to all ages, registration is not required.
