Life of the Horner: Open House

July 7 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Animal horn is a strong, lightweight, and waterproof material that is easy to work with. It is used in many products. It was the job of the Horner to create goods using horn, antlers, and bone. Visit Hancock Park District’s McKinnis House, learn about the Horner and the process of working with horn, and view some goods made from horns and antlers. Visitors will receive a handmade deer antler button. Children will also receive a deer antler tine and beads to create a pendant necklace.

Meet at McKinnis House.  This free program is open to all ages, registration is not required.
