“Selling My Soul: The Gospel Truth” Book Release Party

November 3, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Celebrate the release of the book “Selling My Soul: The Gospel Truth”, authored by former Findlay resident, the late Al Abrams.  The book will debut and be sold at the event. The book will include a signed bookmark and Motown photograph.  “Selling My Soul” is the second book in the Al Abrams Music Trilogy, recounting Mr. Abrams days as the publicist responsible for much of Motown’s early success.  Speaking at the event will be Motown legend Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, following a benefit concert the night before.

Tickets for this event, as well as the concert, can be found at’s website.

An interactive display and other Motown memorabilia provided by Motown Black and White and Nancy Abrams will be on display at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library beginning late September. The interactive display features Motown themed activities including a touch-screen trivia game with an opportunity to learn more about Motown acts.
Motown Black and White was the brainchild of the late Al Abrams, a young Jewish publicist in 1959 when he became the first employee signed to Motown by founder Berry Gordy. Abrams first Motown book “Hype and Soul”, spawned a traveling Motown exhibit Motown Black and White, which continues under the guidance of Mr. Abrams’ wife, Nancy Abrams.

The proceeds from the event, as well as the concert, will benefit the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library Fund, which was established in 2002 and supports the programs, projects and capital purchases of the library For further information about the event, visit or call the library at 419-422-1712.
