Summer Star Party
August 17 @ 9:30 pm - 11:30 pm
FreeEvent Navigation
Explore the night sky through the lens of a telescope with your friends at Hancock Park District. First, learn about different types of telescopes and how they work. Our first viewing object will be the moon and its craters and seas. We will view other objects in the sky, including the planet Saturn, stars, and deep space objects like the Andromeda Galaxy. As you view the sky, Hancock Park District will also point out constellations by using a laser pointer. If the sky is too cloudy for viewing, participants can go on a night hike instead.
Meet on the Discovery Center Porch. This free program is open to families with children 6 and up. Registration is not required.
