Hancock County is home to many great hidden treasures. Over the next few months we will be highlighting a few of these little-known gems!
Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation
12505 County Road 99, Findlay
Times Vary Depending on Season
The Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation (NWORRP) moved to a new location last year and hasn’t slowed down since! NWORRP added the Riverside Train to join their Engine 901 which means double the fun for visitors. No matter the season NWORRP has something for your entire family to enjoy. This Fall, take a ride to the pumpkin patch! The Pumpkin Train runs every Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Whether you purchase a pumpkin or not, you can definitely enjoy the ride. Check out the engines and also try to find your way in the corn maze, which is perfect for children and adults. While you are making your way through the maze you can receive candy at different stations. The fun doesn’t end when the weather turns cold! Beginning November 27th and running until January 3 the North Pole Express will leave the station on Fridays and Saturdays 5-9 p.m. and Sundays 5-8 p.m. You will be sure to love the lights and decorations as you whiz past them, just make sure you bundle up! Making these events even better, they are very affordable for families. Rides cost $2 for adults and $1 for children 12 and under. Plus, all the volunteers at NWORRP love what they do and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the trains on site or the history of locomotives. You will also want to check out their gift shop and train artifacts that are guaranteed to make the youngest (or oldest) train enthusiast happy! You can learn about these events and their organization as a whole on their website and facebook!
