Tonight the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts gave a sneak peek of what shows will be coming to Findlay during the 2017-18 season, and they’re great. Although more shows will be announced throughout the year, here are some of the shows to look forward to!
Johnny Mathis

Kicking off the 2017-18 season is Johnny Mathis! Johnny Mathis is a five-time Grammy-nominated artist that is known for hits such as “Chances Are”, It’s Not for Me to Say”, and “Misty”. With over 80 albums recorded, Johnny Mathis will be crooning his popular, romantic ballads to the audience all evening long.
Irma Thomas, The Blind Boys of Alabama & The Preservation Hall Legacy Quintet

Those who enjoy jazz, soul, R&B, and gospel will want to be sure to purchase tickets to this special concert, which brings together three of the South’s finest: Grammy Award-winning singer Irma Thomas, known as New Orleans’ “Soul Queen”, The Blind Boys of Alabama, six-time Grammy Award Winners, known for both preserving the roots of gospel music and as innovators of the genre, and The Preservation Hall Legacy Quintet, a band that explores the boundaries of New Orleans Jazz.

Also back for a second year is Neos Dance Theatre’s , presenting the timeless tale as an original production set in Findlay, Ohio. Neos Dance Theatre’s story takes a twist from the original tale by paying homage to an iconic age of film, fashion, American Christmas traditions, the industrial age, and WWII.

Pirates of Penzance

A popular musical comedy by Gilbert and Sullivan, The Pirates of Penzance is a story of mistaken identity, sentimental pirates, and dim-witted young lovers which follows Frederic, a man mistakenly apprenticed as a pirates, instead of a pilot, as he chooses to leave the profession upon his 21st birthday and the shenanigans that follow. This show is presented by New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players.
The Bronze Winner of the Fifteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition

Although which of the competitors of the Fifteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is still unknown, once a champion is crowned a crowd in Findlay will be treated to a concert of some of the best classical piano music throughout the world!

In addition to these shows, look forward to the Comedy Jam, presented in conjunction with the University of Findlay, family friendly shows brought to you by MCPA and The Arts Partnership, as well as concerts in a more intimate setting, the Armes Event Hall.
