The GatheringOur lives right now are a constant go go go. We are always over-scheduling ourselves and trying to cram too much into our hectic days. And because of that, many of us end up eating a sad sandwich or whatever we can grab from a vending machine while sitting at our desk. This is just not how lunch is supposed to be.

That’s why I’m declaring that we need to take our lunch break back and make it what it was always meant to be: a break. And why not make it an event as well?

And that’s how I felt when I entered The Gathering. Just entering the dining room always makes me feel like I’m in for a treat. There is something elegant and yet approachable about the room.

Is dining alfresco more your style? With this warmer weather, I can’t blame you. Soak up the sun during your escape from work by eating on their patio.

And just in case you think eating at a nice place is going to take too long, I can assure you that it will not. We had our food in what felt like mere minutes. So this is definitely a place that you can eat as quickly or as slowly as you’d like.

As far as the menu goes, I knew what I wanted as soon as I skimmed. Yup, the Extremely Awesome Fries. Although I fully believe that you can totally make a meal just out of fries, I thought my lunch companion might frown on such a plan. So I ordered a wrap to go with that.

A great thing about going to The Gathering is their flexibility. Have a dietary concern? I have yet to see them not handle a request perfectly. So if you are looking for a place to help you navigate what you can and cannot eat, their wait staff is obviously highly trained and can give you great suggestions.

Now back to the most important thing: Were the fries actually extremely awesome? I can confirm it. They had a nice crisp to them. They were not too potatoey and they were perfectly salted. I could have easily devoured a plate full of them. And my wrap was well-made too, with nice crisp veggies that complimented my tasty fries perfectly.

We left our little escape in well under an hour, with bellies full and hearts light. We were ready to tackle the rest of our day, because that bit of a retreat was just what two friends needed.

So take back your lunch. Make it an event. Go to The Gathering.
