Learn how to create shelters using only supplies that you can find in the woods. First, we will learn about what makes a good shelter, the different types that you can make, and where is a safe place to set one up. We will then go off-trail to find the best spot in the woods to create our shelters. There participants will split into groups to work together to build a shelter using only sticks, leaves, and other natural material that they find. After we have finish building, we will judge which group created the best shelter before we tear them down to follow Leave-No-Trace principles.
Meet at Big Oaks Activity Area, Mariann Dana Younger Memorial Pavilion. This event requires participants to be ages 11-14.
