Hancock County Park TrailsIt’s New Year’s Eve, and let’s face it… We’re all a bit more than stuffed from all of the holiday feasting. So as we clink our drinks and get ready to start anew in 2014, our thoughts are fast turning to our ever-expanding waistlines. It’s time to get out and get fit in Findlay!

There are many places to see, things to do and food to eat in Findlay that can help you in this pursuit. But here are just a couple places that make it a bit more fun than most.

The Healthy Spot

You can’t get fit without fueling yourself properly first! That’s where The Healthy Spot comes in. You can just stop in to sample one of their tasty shakes to fuel a hard workout or to help you recover. And if you’re ready to take the next step, try out one of their nutrition plans to help you achieve your goals, or join an eight week weight loss challenge.

No matter what you choose to do, you will have the support of a great staff that will help you along the way.

Hancock County Parks District

How can you fight the battle of the bulge without a lot of jumping and playing? Is there any place better to do that than in our awesome parks system?

For those snowy days, you can rent some cross country skis or snow shoes and explore what the Riverbend Recreation Area has to offer you.  The Raccoon Run Winter Sports Center will teach you how to cross country ski every Saturday morning in January and February (depending on conditions) and get you ready to get your heart pumping with this great cardio exercise.

And if there is no snow on the ground, you can still take advantage of the local trails for hiking, running or simply walking. Regardless of how you want to do it, there is always a way to get outside and have fun at the Hancock Parks District.

These are just a couple of ways that we’ll be fighting our ever expanding waistlines this winter. How are you going to get fit in Findlay?
