Recently, I was looking for a birthday gift for my niece’s 18th birthday.  I’m the kind of person who never really has an idea in mind and likes to shop around and wait for the perfect gift to jump out at me and say, “buy me”!   As I was running around Findlay, I realized that I could get her just the perfect, unique gift right here in Findlay.

There are so many great places to find the perfect gifts in Findlay!

I started at Trends on Main, where I found an Ohio necklace and some bacon and eggs socks (which she loved and said she would wear while eating her bacon and eggs!).  Then I walked down to Flag City Clothing where I bought a one-of-a-kind Scarlet and Heather Gray OHIO T-shirt.

Flag City Clothing is full of unique items that make the perfect gifts for the Hancock County local in your life!

Next, I headed down Tiffin Ave, where my car veered into the Dietsch Brother’s parking lot and of course I went inside.  Who wouldn’t love a gift from Dietsch’s, right? I mean they have been named a Trip Advisor’s Best Ice Cream stop multiple years running.  Well, I didn’t buy ice cream, although the urge was strong, but I did get her one of their limited time caramel apples.  These caramel apples are as big as your head!  And hey, they are apples, so they are a health snack, or meal, whichever you prefer.  I’m not here to judge.  And what birthday gift would not be complete without a Happy Birthday Dietsch’s chocolate bar.   I did tell her that she didn’t have to share either of those with her brother.

Nothing accompanies a Fall gift better than Dietsch’s seasonal Caramel Apples!

To finish off her perfect birthday gift, I stopped into Wolfies Carry Out on Glessner Ave. where I bought her some lottery tickets.  The thrill of scratching off those lottery tickets provided hours of entertainment for the entire family.  They were winners, so Aunt Kellie for the win!

Sure, I could have ventured to one for the big box stores or spent money on gas traveling to one of those bigger cities, but I choose to buy locally.  I know the people who work in the stores and I know that the money I spend with them will go right back into our local economy.  We are so fortunate to live in a community that supports locally owned businesses and those businesses provide so many unique one-of-a-kind gifts.  As we approach the holiday season, save time and money by shopping right here in Findlay and Hancock County.  Saturday, November 24th is Small Business Saturday.   I challenge and encourage all of you to spend your dollars right here in our locally owned shops and restaurants.   Then, keep it going all year long when you are celebrating those birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions.
