Planetarium: The Argo Navis
August 14 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
FreeEvent Navigation
The constellation Argo Navis, or the Ship Argo, was once the largest constellation in the night sky. However, you will not find the Argo Navis in the list of 88 modern-day constellations. In Hancock Park District’s indoor portable planetarium, learn about the myths, stars, and deep space objects that make up this massive constellation and find out why it is no longer considered one of the modern-day constellations. Then you will take a look at what else can be seen in the August night sky. Participants are required to sit on the floor. Ask about accommodations.
Meet at the Discovery Center. All ages are welcome to this free event, but registration is required by 1 p.m. on Monday, August 14.
