African Americans & The Arts

This year’s Black History Month’s National theme is “African Americans and the Arts”. The Black Heritage Library & Multicultural Center Invites you to come celebrate with us with some wonderful speakers, music, dancing and spoken word.
Our speakers for the evening will be Dr. Evette Simmons-Reed and Dr. Katherine H. Betts.

Dr. Evette Simmons-Reed is an Assistant Professor in the Applied Behavior Analysis graduate program, in the Department of Special Education, at Ball State University.  Dr. Simmons-Reed also serves as the Program Director for the Disability in Postsecondary Settings graduate certificate program with an emphasis in Autism, and the Director and Co-Founder of the CAPS2 Mentor Program for Autistic College Students at the Ball State Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (CASD).

There will be musical selections performed by the Stellar Awards nominated gospel group The Christian Brothers, from Cleveland, OH., as well as performances by the Mason Chapel AME Church Praise Dancers, Spoken Word rendered by members of the Church of the Living God and a special African drumming performance by Gilly Mene.
